Zhejiang Lab (之江实验室), the Hangzhou research institute established in 2017 under Zhejiang provincial backing, is a supply-side contributor to digital human standards and technology. It was the lead drafting unit (牵头起草) of GB/T 47517-2026 «Information Technology — Technical Specification for Sign-Language Digital Humans», China’s first national standard in the sign-language digital human field, published in 2026 and effective 1 November 2026, drafted together with the China Electronics Standardization Institute and the China Association of the Deaf among more than thirty research-and-industry bodies. It was likewise the principal drafting unit of the earlier team standard T/ZZB 3985-2025 covering the same domain. The standard work moves sign-language digital humans — which provide hearing-impaired audiences with translation and broadcasting — from fragmented projects toward unified, regulated development across research, deployment and service evaluation.
