Shangmei Digital Intelligence, commonly known as Shangmei Shuzhi (尚美数智), formally registered as Qingdao Shangmei Digital Intelligence Technology Group Co., Ltd. (青岛尚美数智科技集团有限公司) and also referred to as Shangmei Digital Intelligence Hotel Group (尚美数智酒店集团) or Shangmei Digital Intelligence Technology Group (尚美数智科技集团), is a Qingdao-headquartered hotel management group formerly known as Shangmei Life Group (尚美生活集团) that has positioned itself as a technology-driven hospitality platform with a notable early entry into digital human deployment. In 2022 the company launched Shang Xiaomei (尚小美), described as the hotel industry’s first virtual digital human, initially serving as a brand ambassador, virtual spokesperson, and in-room intelligent concierge capable of handling guest service requests through its proprietary Xinlimei (心里美) smart hotel operating system. On February 14, 2025, the group integrated DeepSeek’s open-source large language model into Shang Xiaomei, upgrading her conversational intelligence for guest-facing interactions including room booking recommendations, room-type matching, and smart device control, making Shangmei the first hotel group to adopt that model for a digital human application. The digital human was developed in-house as part of the group’s broader self-built smart hotel technology stack rather than through an external digital human vendor, reflecting the company’s rebranding strategy of embedding digital intelligence into its core identity.
