Shanghai Mengdian Culture Technology (上海萌电文化科技有限公司) is the Bilibili subsidiary that operated VirtuaReal, the virtual-anchor brand generally described as the earliest and most influential original virtual-artist project in China. It was incorporated on 19 April 2019 in Yangpu, Shanghai, with registered capital of five million yuan, and its legal representative Zheng Binwei (郑彬炜) is the same person who now serves as legal representative of Quanzhou Guoling Technology — which is not a coincidence, because Guoling is where the VirtuaReal business went.
VirtuaReal launched its first recruitment in 2019 as a joint project between Bilibili and the Japanese virtual-anchor company ANYCOLOR (彩虹社, operator of Nijisanji), and in its early years Mengdian was the operating company: game-industry coverage states plainly that around 2019 VirtuaReal was run by Bilibili’s subsidiary Shanghai Mengdian Culture Technology. In 2021 Mengdian and ANYCOLOR formed a joint-venture entity, Shanghai Weiapu Culture Technology (上海喂啊噗文化科技有限公司), and as VirtuaReal’s anchors moved off ANYCOLOR’s motion-capture tooling the Japanese side of the partnership faded. In January 2026, Quanzhou state-capital funds led an investment into Quanzhou Guoling Technology, the Bilibili entity that now operates VirtuaReal, and the operation’s headquarters — with a purpose-built motion-capture stage — is moving to Quanzhou. Mengdian is therefore the historical operator in a three-entity chain, and the entity through which the brand’s history runs.
The operational reality of running virtual anchors shows up in unglamorous places: a 2022 consumer complaint on a public platform describes Mengdian running a paid gift campaign in the livestream room of 阿梓从小就很可爱, one of VirtuaReal’s anchors, and being responsible for producing and shipping the associated merchandise. The roster Mengdian built — 阿萨Aza, 七海Nana7mi, 阿梓 and dozens of others — remains among the highest-revenue virtual-anchor stables on Bilibili, with fan-compiled statistics putting the top anchor’s annual livestream revenue above ten million yuan.
The company remains registered and operating, with an A-grade taxpayer rating in 2025, and its site vup.link presents the VirtuaReal business. Whether any VirtuaReal operations remain with Mengdian after the Guoling transition, as opposed to the entity persisting as a legal shell within Bilibili’s structure, is not stated in any public source this record has seen.
