The National Museum of China (中国国家博物馆), at 16 East Chang’an Avenue in Beijing’s Dongcheng district, is a public institution and China’s national museum.

On 22 July 2022 it introduced Aiwenwen (艾雯雯), its first virtual digital-intelligent employee, presented as a young woman “born” in 2000 whose name plays on AI and on wen (culture); a second virtual digital-intelligent human, Tong Gujin (仝古今), followed later in 2022. Shandong University of Art and Design drew the two characters, Tencent’s SSV Digital Culture Lab and FanTuo Digital Creation built the 3D models, FanTuo rendered and drove them, and Tencent Cloud Xiaowei supplied multimodal interaction. Aiwenwen draws on the museum’s more than 1.4 million collection items to explain exhibits to visitors.
