Finance under the filing regime
Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (中国工商银行), the world’s largest bank by assets, established in 1985 and headquartered at 55 Fuxingmennei Street in Beijing, builds and operates its digital-human workforce in-house rather than buying it as a product. A practice article by 龚光庆, assistant general manager of its software development centre, in the industry journal 金融电子化 describes the architecture: an AI middle platform (AI中台) assembles speech, vision, NLP and RPA capabilities into interactive digital humans approaching real-person fidelity, and a dedicated digital-employee operations management platform (数字员工运营管理平台) gives each digital employee an independent persona, a post classification, auditability and performance evaluation alongside natural-person staff.
The deployments are customer-facing and long-running. The digital employee Xiao Tian (小天) has served at the bank’s Qingfeng Road branch in Beijing since August 2021, with further digital-human staff at the Financial Street Smart Branch; the Beijing branch built a housing-provident-fund digital human that completes services through voice dialogue; and the Jilin branch describes deepening digital-human application across its digital-finance work. Under the bank’s D-ICBC strategy — being upgraded to “AI-ICBC” (数智工行) — its large models have landed in over 500 application scenarios. Its private banking division also piloted the “Jia Qi Xin Rong” commemorative digital collectible under a digital-identity rights-confirmation system.
