Hubei Science and Technology Vocational College (湖北科技职业学院) is a Wuhan vocational college — one legal person with Hubei Open University (湖北开放大学) under a “one leadership team, two nameplates” arrangement in place since 2016 — that has made intangible-heritage digital humans a signature of its design education. Drawing on what it describes as a decade of heritage-digitalisation practice at its Jingchu intangible-heritage vocational-education research centre, the college’s 非遗数字人 made its exhibition debut at the Wuhan Design Biennale in November 2025 with two works: the Jingchu Intangible Heritage Digital Culture Space (《荆楚非遗数字文化空间》), an immersive interactive environment on the Jingchu twenty-four solar terms built with high-precision scanning and AI algorithms, and the Digital Human Heritage Course (《数字人非遗课》). The college also operates a digital human lecturer modelled on provincial-level heritage inheritor Shen Songbai (沈松柏) and a voice-interactive digital human in its campus heritage exhibition hall. In September 2026, Zhang Jing (张静) of its art and creativity school presented the college’s work — including Wuhan paper-cutting AI digital human inheritance and the virtual-physical display of indigo-dyeing techniques — to ASEAN university educators at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman in Malaysia.
