Hubei Institute of Fine Arts (湖北美术学院), the provincial art academy in Wuhan, makes digital-human IP in its schools of experimental art and film and animation.

Its Yangtze ecology metaverse digital human (长江生态元宇宙数字人), which tells conservation stories through art and digital technology, was named one of the 2025 metaverse typical cases, the only Hubei provincial university to be listed. In June 2025 it unveiled 长江小卫士, five digital-human characters modelled on the Yangtze finless porpoise, at the opening of the Wuhan animation season, for use in environmental animation, cultural-tourism digital humans and Hubei cultural products.
