Clinical and public health

Guangdong Second Provincial People’s Hospital (广东省第二人民医院), also designated the Guangdong Provincial Health Emergency Hospital (广东省卫生应急医院), is a provincial public hospital on Xingang Middle Road in Guangzhou’s Haizhu district.

On 28 February 2026, at a launch it co-hosted with the Guangdong Medical Association, the hospital put into service what it calls China’s first doctor digital double (医生数字分身). Built with Huawei and other partners, the digital double is meant to reproduce a named specialist’s diagnostic reasoning, prescribing experience and clinical judgement, and to act for that specialist with patients on the basis of each patient’s own health data. It sits in a three-part digital-therapy system alongside a personal health-data store and an active-health agent, and issues nutrition, exercise and traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions. The first digital doubles, among them that of Xu Gugen (徐谷根), head of its centre for reversing diabetes and obesity, went into use in that centre.
