The Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism (广东省文化和旅游厅), at 701 Dongfeng East Road in Guangzhou’s Yuexiu district, is the Guangdong provincial government department for culture and tourism.

In June 2025 it and the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology called for “AI + Culture and Tourism” typical cases and incubation projects, explicitly including intelligence-driven digital humans (智能驱动型数字人) and embodied-intelligence robots; from 79 submissions they selected 15 typical cases and 8 incubation projects, released on 12 September 2025 at the Guangdong Cultural Tourism Promotion Conference in Guangzhou, and the department ran a second round of AI cultural-tourism cases in 2026. An “Immersive Metaverse and Digital Human Solution” filed by China Unicom subsidiaries (联通在线, 联通数科 and Guangdong Unicom) was one of two Guangdong entries named to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s 2024 list of smart tourism solutions.
