Fudan University (复旦大学) contributes to the digital-human field from the research supply side. It is a co-developer, with Huawei’s Noah’s Ark Lab and Nanjing University, of EmoTalk3D — a 3D digital-human head-synthesis framework for emotionally expressive, free-view talking heads, published with a multi-view emotional audio-visual dataset. With Deepthink Shanghai Artificial Intelligence it co-developed NeuroHolo (神经可塑性全息康复医疗元宇宙应用), a neuro-plasticity holographic rehabilitation application selected among the 2025 national metaverse typical cases.
The university is also one of the field’s more visible commentators and governance actors: 张志安, director of its Centre for Communication and State Governance Research, has framed mainstream media as evolving into suppliers of urban-culture AI corpora, citing Henan TV’s digital characters; management-school and information-school faculty provide recurring market commentary on the virtual-human sector; and its journalism school co-initiated the 浦江宣言 on AI and media governance with Jiefang Daily and Tencent at the 2026 World AI Conference.
