The Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART), 香港国际影视展, organised annually by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, is Asia’s premier film and television trade event and one of the largest of its kind globally, drawing thousands of industry professionals from across 40-plus countries each March. In the context of digital humans, FILMART has emerged as a meaningful bellwether for AI-driven production technology in the Chinese-language and pan-Asian entertainment industries, with successive editions from at least 2020 onward reflecting the sector’s accelerating integration of virtual human technology into mainstream film and television workflows. The 2020 edition saw the debut showcase of the virtual KOL Ling (翎), co-created by MoFa Technology (魔珐科技) and Xicimeta (次世文化), signalling early commercial ambition in the space. By 2024, major players including Huace Film & TV (华策影视) and Youku (优酷) were presenting AIGC research infrastructure and live digital human co-performance pipelines, with AI tools compressing production timelines at scale. The 2025 edition formalised this trajectory with the launch of the AI Hub (人工智能影坊) , a dedicated pilot zone covering the full AI production workflow from pre-production through post and distribution, and foregrounding emerging legal and commercial questions around digital human portrait rights — marking FILMART’s transition from passive showcase to active policy-adjacent platform for the industry’s digital human ecosystem.
