The Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development (重庆市文化和旅游发展委员会) is the Chongqing municipal government department for culture and tourism.
Its 2025 reply to a municipal CPPCC proposal on AI in cultural tourism cites the AI digital human Xiao Di (小笛), modelled on the flute-playing girl of the Dazu Rock Carvings, which gives round-the-clock guided tours and cultural Q&A through robots and kiosks and serves more than 3,000 visitors a day. Xiao Di, Dazu’s tourism ambassador, debuted on 15 November 2024, the day of the 2024 Chongqing Culture and Tourism Development Conference in Dazu District. On 22 May 2026 the commission and the Chongqing Big Data Application Development Administration launched open-competition (揭榜挂帅) projects for an AI cultural-tourism service platform offering AI companion commentary and personalised itinerary planning. Its 2024 national recognition came for the “Bayu Cultural Relics” (巴渝文物) digital application, one of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s 2024 excellent digital innovation cases.
