CA Cultural Technology Group (华夏文化科技集团有限公司), the Hong Kong-listed animation group known until January 2020 as China Animation Characters — and before that as Huaxia Animation Image Co., Ltd. (华夏动漫形象有限公司), the name the virtual-human industry still uses for its idol business — created Violet (紫嫣), the character billed as China’s first virtual idol. 紫嫣 is an original design from the group’s work The Wings of Time (《时光的翅膀》), a purple-haired singing and dancing character in the vocaloid mould.
On 1 February 2015 the group staged China’s first 3D holographic virtual-idol concert, Memory Fragments (记忆碎片), at the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center — organised by Huaxia Animation Group (华夏动漫集团), produced by Shenzhen Media Group, and performed to an audience of more than seven thousand, an event contemporary coverage compared directly to Hatsune Miku’s holographic concerts in Japan. The group later promoted 紫嫣 alongside its other proprietary IP, including the cartoon character Hanbagui (憨八龟), as part of a portfolio spanning CA SEGA JOYPOLIS indoor theme parks, animation merchandise, and multimedia animation entertainment and VR businesses. The company was incorporated in the Cayman Islands on 21 July 2014, is headquartered in Wan Chai, Hong Kong, and trades on HKEX as 1566; in August 2026 a creditor scheme and share subscription restructured its ownership. It has no mainland registration of its own — its mainland operations run through subsidiaries.
