Bank of Communications (交通银行), founded in 1908 and re-established as a joint-stock bank headquartered in the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, deploys digital humans built by another company across its service channels, at enterprise scale. In August 2025 it awarded its 企业级虚拟数字人系统建设升级项目 — explicitly an upgrade of an existing enterprise-level virtual digital human system — to Beijing Baidu Netcom Technology for 4.45 million yuan. The Guangdong branch runs digital humans in digital-finance scenarios alongside AI-driven quality inspection, anti-face-swapping technology, workload forecasting and scheduling, and the bank describes integrating digital doubles into remote financial service interactions under its “Digital New BOCOM” (数字化新交行) strategy.

The bank’s best-known service figure, Jiaojiao (娇娇), is a separate thing: a physical lobby service robot developed by Nanjing University spin-off 南大电子, in branch halls since 2015 and something of a long-running mascot — a robot, not a virtual human, and distinct from the enterprise digital-human system above.
