Aier Eye Hospital (爱尔眼科) is a Chinese ophthalmology hospital group operating as 爱尔眼科医院集团股份有限公司, founded in January 2003 and headquartered in Changsha at 芙蓉南路一段188号爱尔眼科大厦北塔. It runs the largest ophthalmology chain in China.
It is a producer rather than merely a customer, which is unusual for a hospital group. Its digital-human platform is built around Eyecho (爱科), a largely internally developed system led by Aier’s own Digital Ophthalmology Research Institute in collaboration with the Institute of Computing Technology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with which it is also co-developing an ophthalmology-focused large model reported as AierGPT. Eyecho fronts an AI Ophthalmic Management System used for nationwide myopia-prevention education.
The platform spans the whole patient journey — pre-surgical education, intraoperative doctor-patient communication and post-operative rehabilitation guidance — and the group’s digital-human base development and application project has been listed among Hunan Province’s hundred landmark Digital New Infrastructure projects, which is government-level endorsement rather than a market tag.
