Agricultural Bank of China (中国农业银行), one of China’s big-four state commercial banks, established in its modern form in 1986 and headquartered at 69 Jianguomennei Street in Beijing, was an early digital-human adopter among the megabanks: a SenseTime-built AI digital human “joined” its Hangzhou Zhongshan branch as an offline lobby manager in January 2021. The bank has since pulled the work in-house and up the brand: its 2023 brand refresh was fronted by the virtual digital human Nong Xiaoyun (农小耘), whose artwork the bank registered as its own copyright (国作登字-2024-F-00138044), and in April 2026 an institutional restructuring created a Smart Banking Construction Office (智慧银行建设办公室) tasked with building enterprise-grade AI digital human employees.
Its flagship digital-human employee is Yi Ming (一明), “born” in April 2024 as a “一问就明白” question-answering assistant for retail and corporate client managers and grown into a digital employee serving some 100,000 client managers across the bank — the bank registered Yi Ming’s likeness too (国作登字-2026-F-00013647). Yi Ming fronts financial consumer-education campaigns as a virtual representative, work recognized at Sina Finance’s 2026 Gold Stone Awards (金石奖) for consumer-protection innovation. The workforce framing runs through operations: the Jiangsu branch tendered digital-human review of centralized authorization as an outsourced service, the Hunan branch runs a “金融为民” Digital Human IP Creative Competition developing virtual-human IP as a branded customer-engagement asset, and the bank appears in a data-asset finance context as having approved a digital-human intellectual-property certificate (数字人知识产权证书) as loan collateral.
